All volunteers participate in a general orientation and then undergo specialized training to prepare them for their chosen roles with the organization. Building on individual talents, experience and interests, training helps volunteers gain the knowledge and skills necessary to accomplish their assignments with confidence and competence.

Whether they work directly with patients or behind the scenes, all volunteers learn the basics of the New England Hospice philosophy and the history and structure of the organization.
