What Our Staff Says...

"I love helping patients and families when they need it most. It's gratifying when you know you made a positive difference."

"Being a hospice social worker has been such an emotional and rewarding experience for me after working in the hospital setting for some time. There is a lot of comfort in knowing that most of our patients and families have peace, support, and closure at the end of one’s life. I am lucky to be part of such an awesome team!"

"As a Hospice Chaplain I love being able to provide person-centered care to patients and families that is not only supported but encouraged by NEH.  I am blessed to work with a compassionate company that cares for all."

"Prior to becoming a volunteer in 2020, I worked in a nursing home and decided I wanted to give back to patients in hospice care. Being able to provide people with comfort and companionship has been a truly rewarding experience. I’m grateful to develop strong connections with each of my patients. Hearing how much my patients and their families appreciate my support makes it all the more fulfilling."

"Having worked in other hospices, I feel what sets us apart is our staff. Each staff member truly believes in providing Care, Comfort and Dignity to all our patients and families. Each member of the team is a valuable example of giving of themselves to benefit others. Our patients and families can feel confident in the care we provide, can feel included as part of the care team, and comfortable in their decision to partner with New England Hospice."

"It has been a great honor to serve so many patients at New England Hospice. Here at NEH we are a family, and we take well care of our patients as family as well. I like to work for NEH because we strive to provide the best service with quality, honor, and excellence. I like working as a chaplain because it is a great way to accomplish my spiritual mission given by God as I help others to get close to Him."

"One of the most rewarding aspects of being a hospice social worker is being able to support amazing patients and their families so they feel comfortable, prepared, and at peace during the final stages of life."

"In addition to New England Hospice being a great organization and the amazing team members that I share my work day with, I get to meet the most interesting people and hear the most interesting stories. It is like sitting at the feet of a master teacher sharing a lesson by the campfire. While my hope is that I can bring a blessing to our patients that I visit, I feel like I am the one being blessed by them."

"I love getting to know the patients and their families. It's rewarding when you can make even a small difference. I enjoy bringing small treats that patients enjoy such as snacks, devil dogs, milkshakes, etc. Any comfort, support, or a laugh can be a help. I have worked in hospice for 17 years, and the ability to give someone dignity and grace when they pass remains my goal."

"I feel it is a gift to get to know each patient and their families during this phase of life. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to provide individualized care, comfort and joy. I am touched and forever changed by each patient I had the opportunity to meet."

"I believe that by providing education and normalizing the end-of-life process to families, friends, loved ones, and our patients allows an understanding, comfort, and, at times, peace with the process. Normalizing grief, the multiple losses experienced when someone dies, and providing space for the big feelings is a gift I hope to give. It is an honor to be present during these times and I always aim to be a source of comfort and support."

"As a Hospice Chaplain I love being able to provide person-centered care to patients and families that is not only supported but encouraged by NEH.  I am blessed to work with a compassionate company that cares for all."

Have you ever got that feeling when you know you made the best decision of your life by starting to work somewhere? I finally got that feel now with working for New England Hospice, most rewarding work ever for me and I’m so glad I chose it. This is not just a job, it’s my career! I knew I always wanted to be a nurse almost my whole life but I wasn't sure what sort of nursing I wanted to do until I started working for New England Hospice, now I know exactly what type of nursing is for me for the rest of my career.

"As a hospice social worker, it is not our job to impose or offer judgement, but to simply follow our patients and family's lead. We are available to provide emotional support and counseling to the patient and their loved ones, address their concerns and to support their wishes. It is a very humbling and rewarding position to be in. The end of life process is not an easy one and is emotional for all parties involved. Our role on the hospice team is to meet the patient and family wherever they are in this unique journey and to assist with challenging conversations that need to be had to make sure our patients wishes are met and valued."
